Were you one of those children that adored buying pencils at the beginning of a new year of school?  Buying school supplies were the best. And now, buying art supplies, even better. There are a few items I just have a passion for and that is sweaters, shoes, and pencils. I need them in every style and color. For this post, I will only discuss my love of pencils. Aren't you glad? I could lose your interest with a spill on my love of sweaters and shoes. Oh, but I did see some dress shoes that an artist created with paint spatters all over them...someday they...

Will I do it right this time? Always a question at the back of my mind. Like so many, we start a new year with resolutions, hopes and some trepidation of what it will bring to us.

Many years have been much the same for me, work, family and responsibilities of that sort. So I have never given resolutions or the coming new year too much thought. But this year is different for me. Not so much as far as making resolutions, but in the fact that my life has changed and my artwork and business finally has moved to the forefront of my thoughts and wishes for the c...

This painting is close to my heart. It speaks of the bondage women endure under domestic violence and abuse.  It is about the turmoil, fear, and indecisiveness of the mind. I paint of courage to stand up, to resist, and most of all to escape with a fearlessness that will see them safely through to a new beginning.

There will always be poverty, abuse, and ugliness in our world. I don't hold out hope that there is a remedy for it completely, but a cure for many is possible. I do believe the hope comes from the good people that care. The indi...

Dare To Believe, is a new painting series I have just stated. I thought you might be interested in the direction it may go and the inspiration that started this new journey!

Do we really need art in our daily lives?

What do you think of when the subject of art comes up? Do you think of the Louvre or your local art gallery? Maybe you have a friend or family member that is artistic and they come to mind. Or the sweet finger painting hanging on the frig, made by your babies. But whether you realize it or not you are surrounded by art and it is part of our everyday experiences. But the big question is, do we need art in our lives?

You might say no, but are you thinking of the art you see in galleries. Maybe you have never v...

The big move is complete! Big being the operative word here! Oh my, it was a horrendous affair. One I never want to face again. The move is complete, but the unpacking is before me and I am facing dozens of boxes of art materials and supplies stacked as high as the ceiling. If you have ever moved you know how I feel, overwhelmed at the least!

On the other hand, I am very excited about the new studio all painted white, clean and crisp. This move is a new beginning for Mark ( my loving and patient husband) and I. A new home, a new location, new friends, and j...

I have heard that a death, divorce or moving is some of the most stressful situations in your life. And while death and divorce are pretty obvious, I'm here to tell you so is moving! I've lived on my farm for some years now and my husband and I have decided to down size and minimalize our lives. So we are off to a new location in the city. And we have a large barn full of farming and horse equipment, a large home full of years of living and my huge art studio, and so the packing and thinning out begin. I'm not sure the word stress completely covers the a...

Making Time For..., a short title with an enormous amount of pressure tacked to the end of the incomplete sentence. The last two months I have been bombarded with these words. Make time for this, make time for that and I tried very hard to do just that. The list of things I felt needed my attention and time grew, but what I failed to realize is there are only so many hours in a day and things started falling off the back end of that list! I refrain from boring you with the circumstances of my life lately that caused the list making, "of things to make time...

A soft and leisurely stroll to the studio one day, and the finding of a black feather in my path has brought change into my life as a painter. Now how would one black feather change the way an artist paints you say, but yet that is exactly what happened.

I have chickens on my farm so I see feathers all the time floating about, but this one was different and I suppose that's what caught my eye. It was much larger and of a color, unlike my birds. Feathers are so very beautiful and so I picked it up to looked closer, examined it closely, tucked it in my pocke...

It's the first of the new year and as so many at this time, I had high hopes and resolutions for the coming year. But then as always life has other ideas. It has been one thing after another and I haven't been able to paint since before Christmas. I am feeling very stressed I can tell you. The changes that have accord are ones that will go back to normal soon either. My schedule and routine has been blown to bits! And so far I can't seem to get back on track.

So starting fresh, as this blog was supposed to be about has turned into just a quick check in to l...
